Celebrate World Environment Day 2007 in the ACT

You are invited to a World Environment Day celebration for ACT otherWISE, an emerging youth sustainability network in the ACT that is supported by local youth and environment organizations.

This event will celebrate World Environment Day 2007, the ACT otherWISE project, our coalition partners, our volunteer trainers and our enthusiastic young sustainability change makers.

World Environment Day 2007 marks approximately six months since the start of our first ACT otherWISE youth workshop, back in November 2006, where we trained 25 young Canberrans about the impact their lifestyles have on the planet. Since then we have come a long way, running another 4 workshops, building our networks and supporting three sustainable youth-led projects that have emerged from the network so far.

The World Environment Day event will showcase young talent and leadership, the ACT otherWISE model, and the vibrant network of ACT organizations that work in, or have a passion for, achieving sustainability in partnership with young Australians.

This event will also be running in conjunction with the ‘Atmosphere of Hope’ art exhibition, works inspired by the concept of climate change by artists from the ‘WildArt’ group who live in the Bega Valley Shire area.

Where: The ACT Legislative Assembly Exhibition Room, Canberra (please use the public entrance to enter and you will be directed where to go by security)

When: Monday 4th June, 12:30pm- 1:30pm

Fairtrade tea and coffee will be provided, but please feel free to bring your lunch.

Please RSVP to project officer Julia Collin on (02) 6229 3211 or actotherwise@gmail.com.

This event is sponsored by Dr. Deb Foskey, Greens MLA for the ACT Legislative Assembly.
