Step One: Get a WordPress account. If you already have one, go to step two. If you don’t already have a WordPress account you can create one easily by going to WordPress. You can create an account WITHOUT setting up a blog – you just need to select that option. WordPress will send you an e-mail to confirm your account. Once you have confirmed your account, you can go to the next step.

Step Two: Go to the WordPress homepage to sign in using your account details. You will need to be logged in to be able to post comments and blogs.

Step Three: Come back to https://ozotherwise.wordpress.com and you can post comments. Add this page to your bookmarks on your web browser.

Step Four: Add this blog to your account. In the right hand top corner of your screen, you will see a link saying “Blog Info”. From the drop down menu, select ‘subscribe to blog’.

Step Five: To be able to do more than just post comments, i.e. to post blog entries, upload files, etc. we will need to give you special privileges via the admin function. Leave a comment on this page – or e-mail us at youth [dot] sc [at] iypf [dot] org – and we’ll get on to it as quickly as we can. Everyone who has participated in an OTHERWISE workshop will be given access – just tell us who you are and which workshop as it might not always be clear from your sign in name. Others who want to be authors will need to give us a reason why!

Step Six: Post, Comment, Enjoy!

Other Tips:

  • If you have an RSS reader, of have the option of RSS feeds in your e-mail client, you can set up to have all new posts, comments, etc automatically download to your specified program.
  • For more on RSS and feeds, go here.
  • For more on RSS on WordPress go here.
  • For information on programs that will read feeds, etc., go here. I recommend Sage, especially if you are using Firefox (you can get it as a plug in).
